Los fantasmas del bosque, creepy folklore

  • Título: Los fantasmas del bosque
  • Realizador: Blac Iconica

Title: Ghosts of the Forest
Director: Blac Iconica
Duration: 3:59
Year: 2011
Synopsis: Short film tells the story of a man who has an unfortunate encounter with the «spirits of the forest.» British Folklore.
Country: United Kingdom
Additional Information: Actually this is a video clip of the Black Hills Black’s, the single «The Celebration», but the video is so good, and understood so well, we’ve included as a short more. In a display of imagination and independence we changed the name and we have entitled «Ghosts of the Forest» as well, a capella, because apart from that is best (kick to the dictionary), better reflects what’s going on video.

We leave a text written by the authors of the short: Blac Iconica. We have corrected some literal translation Google translator;-)
We wrote, directed and produced this short film / Promotional Video for ‘debut single’ group Black Black’s Hills. The Celebration «Hearing the song, immediately we are inspired to create something that was firmly rooted in British folklore.
‘Celebration’ is a song that sounds dark, thematically and emotionally. Because of this we wanted to have a simple but very cinematic and gripping story, which focuses on the mood of the song, without being a literal translation of the letter of it.
Because the song is so evocative, we found that to do justice to it, we needed to tell a story. Therefore we wanted to create something that was subtly blurred the boundary between the ‘Short’ and ‘Music Promo’.
The result of our efforts was a unique take on the idea of a modern gothic thriller. A story that combines the kind of familiar imagery of ancient folklore, ceremonies and Paganes things creepy ghost stories style ‘pulp literature’. «The Celebration» deliberately sets out to embrace the idea of a ‘British mythology’. To create a contemporary fable that celebrates the mystifying forces of nature that are deep in ancient forests and woods of rural England.
The film itself tells a story of the exploits of a covert search of illegal metal (a «Nighthawk») in an English countryside, as he starts to invade and plunder the earth isolated parts with dire consequences. This allowed us to construct a narrative base that could turn the everyday, the idyllic and picturesque something much more sinister.
We wanted tambalearnos the edge of the unknown and played with the primal instincts buried deep within the collective psyche evolutionary.
Shooting:
As this was a self-financed work for us (Blac Ionica) for Black Black Hills, we had a very limited budget which in turn dictate what format we could shoot in. We knew we wanted to shoot something very cinematic but I had to be on a budget, so in light of that, and after extensive discussions with the DOP decided to shoot on a Canon 7D with Steadicam platform and anamorphic lenses Prime.
We shot over two days in two separate with a cast and a fantastic team places. The first day of shooting was a little frustrated by our «British Summer ‘unpredictable, but in the end it actually worked in our favor, as it helped to create a’ bad mood additional ‘Overall we had not negotiated at this time of year.
Tthe Post-production was made by ourselves with the help of our excellent team of independent professionals and composers. All of which is further enhanced by the note that was kindly provided by the Moving Picture Company, London.
